[It's strange reading through messages that you have no recollection writing, but all of this certainly sounded like him.]
did i disappear right after all that happened? have any idea if i paid off my fine?
and what bracelet?
[A few minutes pass as he waits for a response before he continues texting Connor, deciding to explain himself a bit, where these questions were coming from and why he wanted to know.]
i met my roommate finally. she mentioned people go missing a lot. people like us, the ones they've kidnapped. she said sometimes they come back and don't remember shit
[From the timeline he could see, they might've had him for two months, give or take, doing fuck knows what to him. All he knew is he didn't remember being here before and he didn't remember the two months he'd been missing.]
it sounds like if things don't work out they just make a person disappear, fuck with their memory and toss them back in
[He wanted to know what they'd done to him. He wanted to know what memories of his they'd erased.]
You disappeared shortly after, yes. I don't have any data as to whether or not you were able to pay off the fine, but considering your previous status and no arrangement I was aware of, I would estimate community service was the only viable option.
The bracelet was given to us upon our initial arrival into the program. We were...the first round of subjects. Each bracelet had a word. Some were able to remove theirs immediately, including me. Others were unable to as a predicted punishment for some transgression. You were angry when I wasn't able to break it at maximum strength.
You did manage to get it off, but I'm not sure what that entailed. I wasn't privy to your methods.
[that's partly true, he knows. he could confirm it, but he'll have to reveal about his own experiences a bit. seeing as gavin is an a rare, chatty mood...he'll do so.]
I can confirm in part regarding memory loss. Lieutenant Anderson was here right up until you arrived again. There was an accident, and he was killed by a man in broad daylight. Two weeks later he returned--with no memory of having been here. It took several days, but he did regain them.
He was cooperative with what they asked, so I don't think that portion corroborates what your roommate has stated, but it does confirm that memories are a tool that can be manipulated through the LIES program.
a predicted punishment? by that do you mean they assumed we'd fuck up before we'd even done anything? what'd the bracelets say?
and. yea. i don't remember it but i can see being angry about something like that. especially if i hadn't done anything to piss this place off yet. not exactly the warmest welcome.
wait. what? did you like... like see that? can you confirm he was killed? 100% dead? how the fuck did they bring him back? and why? do you know if anyone else has seen something similar? that seems fucking nuts.
hey. since we're chatting and shit. my roommate mentioned something else. she knows people from back home who are here, but like some are from two years in the future, some are from a week in the future, some are from her past. you and i guess hank what was the last thing you guys did? actually fuck it. what was the date? for me it was january 14, 2039. a fucking friday. and i wasn't even on call saturday. this place is seriously the worst.
